South African Mobile Operator Rain Aiming for 2,000 5G towers

Rain is partly owned by Patrice Motsepe, Paul Harris and Michael Jordaan. Investors African Rainbow Capital (ARC) is owned by Motsepe.

According to ARC:

-Mobile operator Rain will significantly expand its infrastructure in 2020.

-By the end of November 2019 Rain had rolled out 250 5G towers.

-Rain aims to roll out 700 5G towers by December 2020.

-Rain’s ultimate aim is to have 2,000 5G towers in key metro areas in South Africa.

According to Rain’s website:

For now, rain 5G will only be available in certain areas in Johannesburg and Tshwane.

During 2019 and 2020 coverage will expand to Cape Town, Durban and other major metros.
